I’m not actually certain what this section is called… but it’s the area that I assume is suppose to show the lenth of the program you are watching and what your current postion is.

Yes, those sections are activated when the settings on the DirecTV box are turned on as listed on the IP Compatibility list:

Drove me crazy as well. Make sure that remote status is enabled on your DVR. I think it is under home sharing. One of the three configurable options. If this is off you won’t see what is playing or status.
