Now that my Sony XR-55A90J has switched from Google TV Media Player Control to Android Media TV Media Player Control I seem to no longer have control over input selection given the Android Roomie Remote GUI.
Am I missing something obvious? Where is the input control we used to have when the Sony TV Media Player was google controlled. I assumed the name of the OS just changed. Did the underlying code also change?

You would never want to control a Sony TV via any of the Android/Google control options. Control it as a Sony TV the normal way. That’s where the Input commands are as well.
We allow controlling it as Android because it works. Some apps or games on your Sony TV may be more controllable using it. But certainly if you’re trying to control your Sony TV as a TV, you would obviously want to control it as a Sony TV not a generic Android box.
Thanks for your help Will. It took a while but the Sony TV finally showed up on my device list as a Sony TV and not as an Android Sony TV. Now all is working as it should. Interestingly we just moved and with my new frontier internet package I was also given a new eero router. It appears as though that was how the router was initially identifying the device ie. as an Android device. Just had to wait a while for the device to register as a TV on the router. Isn’t Eero owned by Google?
Eero is owned by Amazon, but none of that is relevant. The protocols use different discovery methods. Bonjour/Zeroconf is generally reliable and instant whereas the other protocol advertises via UPnP and thus is variable and could take a while. 60 seconds is a reasonable limit for how long to wait if something doesn’t show up.
