Test units on the way…
cool…sounds promising…
In case anybody missed it, support for Philips Hue lighting including brightness, hue, and saturation sliders was just released as part of Roomie 1.8.4.
Thank you.
I’m considering adding Hue lights to my home theater room, but would first like to know if a specific use case is doable.
I’m sure that I can add Hue control to existing activities, such as turning on the lights when I turn on my components to watch a movie. Beyond that, though, can I link lighting controls to specific buttons/commands on specific remotes so that I can, for example, dim the lights automatically when I hit Play on a blu ray, and then bring the lights back up when I pause or stop the movie? I’ve seen this done on a Control 4 system and it was a really nice effect. If Hue/Roomie can accomplish the same thing, I’m sold!
Yes, any button can be customized to send any number of commands to any device including lighting commands.
Thank you.
Excellent! And thanks for the super-quick response.
@tcoble33 There is one thing to remember. Philips Hue have no Power Toggle command so You need to have separate commands for turning Hue lights on and off or together with a another funtcion which have 2-way feedback like IP Mute toggle or Power toggle. If You do that You can add both power on and off for Hue lights on the same button. Personally I’m using Hue with sound mute button on my reciver. When mute is on my lights goes to 100% brightness and when mute is off my lights dimms to lowest level. If You have plans to link Hue with Play and Paus there be no problem as long You are using separate button for Play and another one for Pause (IR or IP) or one button with a Play/Pause toggle command (IP) if there is 2-way feedback for this function.
Noted, thanks. This sounds like one of those “little” annoyances for which you assume you’ll be able to find a work-around in just a few minutes. Right before you blow an entire Saturday on it.
