Roomie Remote Alexa Skill is now Live

We have just published a new Roomie Remote Custom Skill for Alexa. This replaces the old Simple Control skill that will soon be removed from the store. The new skill provides all of the functionality of the old skill. Please visit the Alexa app to revise which skill is enabled and linked to your Roomie Remote account. In reviewing the documentation, some of the cooler commands were never officially published. They were simply mentioned here in the forums. I will be posting the detailed syntax in the next message and soon we’ll be updating all of the documentation. Examples of commands that were not officially documented include “tell roomie remote to skip 6 times”, a very useful command for skipping commercials.

The detailed syntax shows many different variations of what can be said to the skill depending on your preference. The new skill is available in all English-supported countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and India.

Thank you for continuing to support Alexa! I have installed the new Roomie skill (replaced old Simple Control skill) and can confirm its working as expected.

When I try to link my Roomie account to Alex Simple Control Login comes up and asked me for my login and password. Shouldn’t it asked me to login to my Roomie account?

There’s no difference, but there was indeed an incorrect logo there which is now fixed.

It’s an English skill, so it’s available wherever Amazon allows English. Perhaps there is some way to activate that for you, but that would all be an Amazon issue.

Is there a way to see my Roomie Devices/Activities as devices or scenes in Alexa? I was able to see this before and could incorporate those Activities into an Alexa routine. Now I can’t see them directly which means in certain routines i have to incorporate 2 steps… 1 step to control the Roomie Device/Activity and another for non-Roomie devices.

Nothing has changed there, so it sounds to me like user interface confusion you may be having in the Amazon Alexa app. Certainly devices and activities are shown there.
